IT as a Service Extends Cloud Computing Business Value by Generating Revenue

SAN MATEO, CA, Oct 04, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) — Leveraging cloud computing technologies as a cost reduction tool has become increasingly common with companies like salesforce.com and SuccessFactors leading the movement. Less understood, however, is how organizations can use the cloud as a business enabler that generates bottom and top line value. CloudShare today announced an October 6, 2010 webinar with The 451 Group entitled, “Generating Revenue from the Cloud: How to Move from IT as a Cost Center to a Revenue Model” that will discuss how businesses can, with IT as a Service (ITaS), generate revenue.

IT as a Service is a fast-growing cloud computing model that is enabling organizations to realize significantly lower total cost of IT ownership by taking a simple and incremental approach to cloud adoption. CloudShare enables ITaS by providing on-demand delivery of privately branded enterprise applications or IT environments, including virtual infrastructure, installed applications, end-user access and line of business functionality in seconds, all via a cloud-based application.

“ITaS contributes directly to a business’ bottom line,” said Rachel Chalmers, research director, infrastructure management for The 451 Group. “Consider the costs that can be saved by qualifying prospects via the cloud by not having to ship, for example, five physical servers to their site. As ITaS proves to be cost-effective and scalable, organizations are realizing lower TCO, greater operational efficiency and better alignment of resources with business needs.”

“ITaS has provided current CloudShare customers including SAP, Cisco, McAfee and VMware near-immediate benefits to their bottom line and top line,” said Kevin Epstein, vice president of marketing for CloudShare. “By incrementally moving business-specific functions including, but not limited to, training, sales demos, proofs-of-concept, product management and marketing to the cloud, your systems become globally accessible, more secure and more reliable — all while generating revenue for your business.”

To learn more about how your business can generate revenue from the cloud, CloudShare will be hosting a webinar with The 451 Group entitled, “Generating Revenue from the Cloud: How to Move from IT as a Cost Center to a Revenue Model,” on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. PT/ 1 p.m. ET. Drawing upon real-world examples, the speakers will share industry trends in cloud adoption that provide strategic value and contribute to the bottom line, and share practical ways to get started.
