The Industries That The Cloud Will Change The Most

Cloud computing is rapidly revolutionizing the way we do business. Instead of being a blurry buzzword, it has become a facet of everyday life. Most people may not quite understand how the cloud works, but electricity is quite difficult to fathom as well. Anyway, regardless of our understanding it doesn’t take away from the fact that humans constantly seek instant gratification. The ability to instantly access information from anywhere in the world fulfills this desire.

What does this mean for business?

Things are going to change, very quickly. Pretty much every industry will streamline their service offerings or create new products as a result of the cloud. Of course, certain industries will experience more change than others. The financial sector has been rapidly evolving over the last 10 years as banking has become faster and more efficient. The cloud has effectively eliminated the need for having a separate client database and customer portal at every location. The world has gotten a lot smaller in the eyes of the banking industry.

You know that the times have changed when you can simply take a picture of your cheque and have it automatically deposited in your account. What do we need physical branches for anymore? The financial sector will continue to expand in the future with their online and mobile banking platforms.

No other business may understand the impacts of the cloud more than the entertainment industry. If you’re in doubt, walk into your nearest Blockbuster and ask them. The cloud has provided the opportunity to create a whole new business sector known as online entertainment. You now have the ability to access your favorite TV shows, movies, music and games from anywhere in the world.

By taking a look at Netflix stock, it is easy to see that the online entertainment industry is just getting started. You can expect to see this industry grow and evolve over the next few years as a result of cloud technology.

One industry that is just starting to realize the power of the cloud is the healthcare sector. With the invention of cloud computing, patients, doctors nurses, Insurance Companies and other administrators will all be able to access the same set of files. You will be able to log in and see your latest X-Ray results or see what prescriptions you have on file. For once, everybody will be on the same page when it comes to your health, and, honestly, this can’t happen soon enough.

The final industry that the cloud will have the biggest impact on is the education sector. This is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and it will continue to grow and evolve using the cloud as its foundation. Schools such as Walden University and the University of Phoenix offer online degrees. Even highly prestigious schools such as MIT are taking advantage of the cloud by creating their MIT Open Courseware program, which provides access to all of their courses, free of charge. This is a trend you can expect to continue as time goes by.

No matter where you live, you will have access to high quality education. You can easily view reports cards, assignments and much more. Cloud-based computing encourages collaboration and allows for easier access to research materials and online discussion.

Regardless of the industry, the cloud is changing the way we live and especially the way we do business. If you are a business owner, embrace this opportunity for growth and enjoy the ride.

What industries do you think will experience the most change due to cloud computing? Which ones have already seen the bulk of it? Let us know in the comments below.
