Quick Ways to Free Up Storage on Your Mac

By Cloud Source

Saving storage on your Mac

Everyone using a Mac is sometimes thinking of ways to save storage space. Whether we like it or not, storage space is limited, and we need to find a way to deal with that. A lot of the time, you can rely on external storage or paying for more iCloud space. But you can also try out something new, in the form of just deleting stuff to save more space. It’s great and it will help convey a much better result than you expect.

Move large files to an external device

A very good and quick way to handle this situation is to just move large files to an external device. What that does is it allows you to streamline your storage. And on top of that, it will become much easier to manage. Granted, it will take a little bit to manage and transfer everything. But having it all on a separate drive is handy. It gives portability, but also closeness to the device, just in case you need it.

Delete junk files

Apps like CleanMyMac are great cleanup tools that will make it easy to delete junk files, temporary stuff, duplicates and so on. Being able to automate all of that is going to be handy, and you really have to narrow down how to approach all of it. In the end, the most important aspect is to try and delete the junk files, as you don’t have any use for them anyway.

Delete apps

Removing apps is also a great idea, mainly because it allows you to save space and that will matter a lot. Granted, you will have to go through the applications folder and narrow down what stuff you can remove. But in the end, it’s actually a very good idea to delete apps you rarely use. Some of those might even have malware, so in the end, it makes sense to try and delete unwanted or unused apps. It’s definitely a solid idea to consider, and you have to take that into consideration.

Clear the Mailbox

Junk mail is also going to eat up space as well. So it makes sense to enter the Mail app, click on the mailbox and then choose to Erase Junk Mail. You can also empty the deleted emails directly if you want. In order to do that, you enter Mailbox and then you choose to Erase Deleted Items. That’s great and it will help make the process much easier, while also saving tons of time.

Remove the browser cache

It’s another one of those things that you don’t realize are quite problematic until you actually see how much space the cache takes. If you never deleted the browser cache, you might end up having many GB of storage space wasted by cache. So yes, it does make sense to try and remove the cache, and it will be a much better thing to focus on. But in the end, that’s going to be extremely useful, especially when it comes to saving space. Generally, you need to use any method you can in order to save space. And in this case, it’s actually well-worth considering.

Clean the unused media files

You can transfer your unused media files to a separate drive if you want. Or to iCloud. If you do want to save space on your main Mac drive, it makes sense to take advantage of any additional storage space that you can find. And in the end we think it will only lead to a much better experience, which is what you want to pursue here.

A similar thing is valid with the music library. You might end up having a lot of audio files, so it does make sense to remove the ones you don’t really listen to. Simple stuff like that will be handy, and it will surely make the experience a whole lot better if you just stick with the music you want. And of course, photos are just like that.

Remove downloaded files

Go to the Downloads folder and remove the files that you have stored in there. Again, it might not seem like a whole lot to focus on, but deleting stuff from here and there will be handy. After all, the additional free space will be excellent to have, and it will make a difference.

Conclusion

We believe that it’s inherently important to take your time and truly figure out ways to manage the entire process effectively. And what really matters is how you are handling everything in a proper manner. These tips are great because they will make it easier to save space. And the truth is that the more space you can save, the better it will be. We recommend approaching this with a true focus on saving space and removing unnecessary files, as it will be totally worth it in the end!
