Wes founded Delphi Internet Services Corporation in 1981, which popularized the internet according to Michael Woolf. He created the world’s first online encyclopedia. By the time Delphi was sold to Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation in 1993, it was profitable and one of the four largest social networks, alongside AOL, CompuServe, and Prodigy. In 1986, Wes launched a spinoff, Global Villages, Inc., to create private-label social networks for magazine publishers and businesses. Wes focused on reliable online identities, developing the VIVOS Enrollment Workstation and writing about a global public key infrastructure (PKI) for authentic and private online interactions. He joined the International Telecommunication Union's High Level Experts Group for Global Cybersecurity. In a 2008 UN address, he introduced the City of Osmio, a new certification authority. Wes authored "Quiet Enjoyment" (2004, second edition in 2014), followed by "Don’t Get Norteled" (2013) and "Escape The Plantation" (2014).
